High school and college students have the opportunity to participate in the Student read, which helps them through the most difficult time in their life.

Book Review:
It’s during High School and College you begin to pull away from home and step into your own. You start to follow the path that will take you to what you know you were meant to do in life and not everyone will understand your actions in doing so, which makes you feel alone and question yourself.

Your book helps you to remember that you are not alone. Even if there are others who don’t agree with you, it doesn’t mean you should not do what you feel as though you must. 

They may not see your vision as you do, and that’s okay, it wasn’t meant for them to see.  And, your book reminds you of this.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
Parents, it is your responsibility to supply your child’s needs: food, shelter, education, 
love, clothing, encouragement, safe nurturing environment, and a sense of belonging.

PTA , PTO
The primary goal to bring parents and teachers together to cooperate 
intelligently in the education of children and youths. Many PTAs sponsor activities that 
reinforce and enhance the education program.

THE BIG ‘D’ – DISCIPLINE
Definition:  In Locos Parentis – In place of the parent. Processing a portion of the 
parent’s rights, duties, and responsibilities.

Questions and Answers:

Q1. What does it mean?
A1.  Simply put – The school can act in place of the parent, in certain instances, possessing a 
portion of the parent’s rights, duties, and responsibilities.

Q2. Do schools have to notify me before disciplining or suspending my child?
A2. No, not necessarily.

Q3. Can my child be suspended for trivial incidences?
A3.  Yes. Remember that the only reason why the school building was constructed was 
for educational purposes. Your child does not have the right to stop the educational process. Throwing paper, joking, or disturbing other students is not trivial when another child’s right to an education has been hindered.

Q4. Can joking be considered bullying?
A4.  Yes, especially if the victim feels intimidated. Remember, it is not what the perpetrator 
intended; it is how the victim feels.

Q5. What about sexual harassment?
A5.  Singing of explicit songs, making remarks about body parts, using certain names, 
or certain touches can be considered sexual harassment. Remember, it is not what the 
perpetrator intended; it is how the victim feels
